The Newport News Police Department has been chosen to receive the Governor's Achievement Award for work in its Anti-Crime Partnership Program.
The award will be presented tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Hampton Holiday Inn and Conference Center.
The anti-crime program's goal is to establish a working partnership between city and state agencies to improve the quality of life in Newport News.
The program is funded by local and state funds.
The partnership was chosen as one of seven statewide housing and community initiatives that contributed to a positive environment. by CNB
