With winter rapidly approaching, area angling choices have dwindled to usual cold-weather staples.
And nobody's complaining.
Striped bass fishing in nearly all of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries has been fantastic, while speckled trout continue to make good showings around the islands of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel and in Rudee Inlet. Tautog still are providing action around the bridge-tunnel, as well as at offshore wrecks, where sea bass are also providing action.
Surf casters along the Outer Banks of North Carolina are enjoying some of the best speckled trout and striped bass action ever, according to tackle shop owners in the area. Just off the North Carolina beaches, king mackerel are making strong showings.
