Lydia White Staples, 80, of the 5600 block of Tidewater Drive, died Nov. 28, 1995, in Norfolk.
Mrs. Staples was a native of Norfolk. She was the widow of Schafer Martin Staples, Jr. and was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk. She was a former member of the Auxiliary Board for St. Mary's Infant Home. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy.
Survivors include three sons, Charles M. Pinner of Grotan, Conn., William S. Staples of Norfolk, Robert Kenneth Staples of Gaithersburg, Md.; four sisters, Mary Elizabeth W. Kraft of Louisville, Ky., Margaret W. Bulifant of Bremen, Ga., Miriam W. Sellers and Adelaide W. Bishop, both of Virginia Beach; two brothers, James R. White of Norfolk, Edward T. White of Virginia Beach; and five grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her son, Richard M. Pinner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Father John J. Dorgan. A Christian wake service will be held at 7 p.m. today in the Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 520 Graydon Avenue, Norfolk, Va., 23517.
