Mr. George Small Twiddy, 81, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 1995, in the Britthaven Nursing Home of the Outer Banks.
A native of Elizabeth City, Mr. Twiddy was a son of the late George A. and Cora Lee White Twiddy. Mr. Twiddy was the former president of Twiddy Insurance and Real Estate of Edenton. He was a member of the Edenton Unanimity Lodge (NU)7; Scottish Rite; Sudan Temple; past president of the Edenton Rotary Club; and member of the Duck United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Taylor Twiddy; daughter, Phyllis Staples of Williamsburg; two sons, Paul W. Twiddy of Rockhill, S.C., Douglas A. Twiddy of Southern Shores; stepson, the Rev. Canon Michael T. Malone of Charleston, S.C.; brother, Warren J. Twiddy of Edenton, N.C.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three stepgrandchildren. Mr. Twiddy was preceded in death by a son, Brian R. Twiddy.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the Beaver Hill Cemetery in Edenton, with masonic rites. The family will receive friends at the Evans Funeral Home in Edenton today from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
