The Commonwealth ChalleNGe Program is currently seeking high school drop-outs to enroll in a February 1996 class.
The program is a statewide, federally funded high school drop-out recovery program. Applicants must not have any felony charges, must be 16 to 18 years old, drug-free, a high school drop-out and a Virginia resident.
The program is a five-month residential course conducted at Camp Pendleton, the state military reservation at Virginia Beach. Students in the program prepare for successful completion of the GED.
Students also learn about leadership, discipline, job skills, life coping skills and physical fitness.
Upon successful completion of the residential phase of the program, graduates receive $2,200 during the one-year post-residential phase to assist in future career development.
The program is free to qualified applicants. The deadline for applications is Dec. 31.
