The City Council took the following action at its meeting Tuesday:
Resolution authorizing the city manager to execute the certificate of compliance expressing the city's intent to comply with the Virginia Juvenile Community Crime Control Act.

Resolution authorizing the city's 1996 Legislative proposals to be presented to the Portsmouth delegation for action in the 1996 General Assembly session.

Motion to award a contract to Geo Design Consultants in the amount of $85,000 to perform special testing inspection services on the new I.C. Norcom High School project. The building code requires that certain elements of the concrete, steel and masonry construction be inspected, tested or certified by an independent testing firm. Funds for this expense were included in the project budget, therefore, no appropriation is required.
