Joy Harrison Brown, principal of Swift Creek Middle School in Chesterfield County, Va., died of cancer Tuesday, Nov. 28, 1995, in Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond.
She was the daughter of Clarence and Alberta Harrison of Portsmouth. Joy, a graduate of I.C. Norcom High School, received her B. S. degree from Virginia State University and masters degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She taught in Chesapeake public schools from 1968 to 1970.
She is survived by her husband, retired Sgt. 1st Class Joseph A. Brown; sons, Kevin and Kenneth Brown; mother, Alberta M. Harrison; brother, Thomas Harrison; sister-in-law, Mildred Harrison; and a host of family and friends.
The remains rest at the Mimms Funeral Home in Richmond, 19th and Hull Sts. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Richmond Christian Center. Interment will be private. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
