Charlie Ed Phelps Sr., 77, of 440 U.S. 13 North, died Friday, Dec. 1, 1995, in Pitt Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Bertie County, a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, a World War II Army veteran, and a retired salesman for Sunbeam Bread Co.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Blizzard Phelps; three sons, Charles E. Phelps Jr. of Windsor, William E. Phelps of Wendell, N.C., and Robert L. Phelps of Beaver Dam, Ky.; four sisters, Ruby P. Evans and Janice P. Lyon, both of Windsor, Lillian P. Crisci of New Haven, Conn., and Barbara Jean P. Lagarene of Long Island, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Edgewood Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at home. Memorial gifts may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church Building Fund, 348 U.S. 13 North, Windsor, N.C. 27983. Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, is in charge of arrangements.
