Johnnie Madison Bright, 92, of the 300 block of Shore Drive, died Dec. 2, 1995, in his residence.
He was a retired self-employed farmer and a native of Chowan Country, N.C., and was the widower of Edith Parks Bright. He was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church in Suffolk. He was also a charter member and past president of Magnolia Ruritan Club, longtime member of the Magnolia Hunt Club, former board member of the Nansemond County A.S.C.S Committee.
He is survived by a son, John Robert Bright and his wife, Vera Jakeman Bright of Suffolk; sister, Onella Taylor of Pink Hill, N.C.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Sallie Evans and Mordeci Bright.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday by the Rev. Clyde D. Nuckols Sr. in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home. Entombment is in Meadowbrook Memorial Mausoleum. The family will be at the funeral home today from 3 to 4 p.m. and other times at the home of John Robert Bright, 307 Shore Drive.
