ONE-WAY STREETS OUT OF PORTSMOUTH

As a citizen and lifelong resident of Portsmouth, I am concerned over the recently positioned barriers restricting traffic through Waterview from High Street. Are the streets in the Waterview area of Portsmouth not public streets and maintained partly with my tax dollars?

My family and I have traveled the roads through Waterview to shop in Portsmouth along Airline Boulevard since I was a child. Portsmouth ``leaders'' have in effect made it so much easier for us now to shop in Chesapeake.

Portsmouth officials must open up our city, not create more barriers. Did they really think this one through? I believe that one police officer assigned to monitor traffic violators through Waterview at peak periods would be more cost-effective than the numerous signs and barriers that have been erected.

All roads west of High Street Bridge in Portsmouth are quickly becoming one way - out of the city. Sorry, Portsmouth, I've had enough of our city's dimwitted ideas that benefit few and alienate many. Chesapeake and Suffolk welcome me. Here I come!
