CAREER TRACK

ACCOUNTING

Paul Siceloff was named an associate at Ocheltree Slizewski & Co. in Norfolk. He retired from the Defense Contract Audit Agency in Hampton as a supervisory auditor after 30 years.

Linda Passaro was named an associate for tax and accounting at the office of Gary L. Roberson in Virginia Beach. She was formerly with Failes and Associates in Virginia Beach.

Douglas L. Thompson was named an associate at Sullivan, Andrews & Taylor in Virginia Beach. He will practice in the area of taxation and general accounting services. He is a recent graduate of the Virginia Military Institute.

ADVERTISING

Deborah Carpenter was promoted to vice president of client services at Hambright, Calcagno & Downing Advertising and Public Relations in Virginia Beach. She was formerly director of account services at the company, and has worked with the agency for more than seven years. In her new position, she will supervise departments within the agency which provide client services, including sales, public relations and media.

ENGINEERING

Lewis H. Bridges III has joined the Virginia Beach office of Hayes, Seay, Mattern & Mattern Inc. as an electrical engineer. He was formerly with Clark Nexsen Owen Barbieri & Gibson Architects & Engineers in Norfolk.

HEALTH CARE Dr. Timothy H. Kerr was named chairman of the Chesapeake General Hospital Healthcare Foundation. Kerr is provost of Tidewater Community College in Chesapeake. Shirley H. Forbes was also elected vice chairman of the foundation. She is chairman of the education committee of Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, Chesapeake division.

LAW David A. Wise was named an associate with McGuire, Woods, Battle & Boothe in Norfolk. Prior to this, he clerked for a U.S. District Court judge for the western district of Louisiana.

Susan B. Goldsticker and Deborah V. Bryan were named associates with Bennett & Stolle in Virginia Beach. Goldsticker will practice in several areas including personal injury, domestic relations, business law and litigation and real estate transactions. Prior to this, she was a legislative aid for state Sen. Ken Stolle. Bryan will concentrate in the areas of domestic relations, wills and trusts, business law and litigation, personal injury and real estate and government contracts. Previously, she was a government contracting officer with the Naval Supply Center in Norfolk.

MEDIA

Susan G. Coe was named senior vice president of development and marketing at WHRO in Norfolk. She will head a newly-created marketing division which combines the development and communications departments into a single division. Prior to joining WHRO, she was marketing manager/assistant business development manager for the Virginia Beach Economic Development Department.

SHIPBUILDING Whylen G. Cooper was named vice president of sourcing at Newport News Shipbuilding. He will be responsible for all sourcing activities including international sourcing, supplier management programs and naval equipment procurement. Prior to this, he was with General Electric Power Systems in Schenectady, N.Y.

TOURISM

Sally Noona was named convention sales manager of the Virginia Beach Department of Convention and Visitor Development. She previously served as director of convention sales for the Norfolk Convention and Visitors Bureau, where she also held positions of sales manager and senior sales manager.

TRANSPORTATION

David A. Cox was named vice president of properties for Norfolk Southern Corp. He will be responsible for all of the company's real estate and industrial development activities, including two subsidiaries, Pocahontas Land Corp. and Lambert's Point Docks. He began his career with the corporation in 1956, serving in several engineering and real estate positions. He most recently worked as assistant vice president of industrial development.

Also, Norfolk Southern has assigned new responsibilites to two vice presidents in its operations division. Jon L. Manetta was named vice president of transportation and mechanical and Donald W. Mayberry was named vice president of research and tests. Manetta most recently worked as vice president of transportation and Mayberry was vice president-mechanical.

And, the following promotions took place at Norfolk Southern in Roanoke. Thomas E. Rappold was appointed assistant vice president of sales and service in the company's coal marketing department. He succeeds J. William Fox Jr., who was elected vice president of coal marketing on Oct. 1. Mark H. Bower will succeed Rappold as assistant vice president of international coal and Connie Brockenbrough-Vaughn will succeed Bower as director of coal market development.
