IRENE HYMAN

Irene Boone Hyman, 71, of the 2600 block of Chesapeake Ave., died Dec. 4, 1995, in Portsmouth.

She was born in Madison County, N.C., and was a retired packager for Crisp Pack. She was a member of New Temple Grove Ministry, Chesapeake. Mrs. Hyman was employed for many years at Hutchison's Grocery, Chesapeake.

Survivors include three daughters, Jackie Hardison, Judy Haddock and Shirley Mason, all of Chesapeake; two sons, Ret. Major James D. Ledford of Newport News and Jerry Lee Boone of Chesapeake; two sisters, Myrtle Caldwell of Waynesville, N.C., and June Smith of Asheville, N.C.; two brothers, Harold Metcalf of Canton, N.C., and Joe L. Metcalf of Asheville, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted Thursday at noon by the Rev. Johnny MacDonald in New Temple Grove Ministry Church. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel in charge. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. and at 2609 Chesapeake Ave. and 1211 Bells Mills Road, Chesapeake, at other times. Memorial contributions should be made to New Temple Grove Ministry Church.
