TWO HURT IN ACCIDENT

An out-of-control car slammed through the glass storefront of a Lynnhaven bottled-water business late Monday, sending the driver and passenger to the hospital.

The driver of the Ford sedan was Vivian R. McKown, 36, of the 3700 block of Colonial Parkway in Virginia Beach. The passenger was her husband, Wayne, 40. They were taken to Virginia Beach General Hospital with neck and back injuries.

The Water And Health store sustained extensive damage, police said. The store was closed when the accident happened and there was no one inside.

Police said the car was turning into the Lynnhaven Crossing shopping center around 9:15 when Vivian McKown apparently went through a stop sign. The car struck a Ford Bronco and then a parked pickup before running over a curb and hitting the store, police said.

Charges against the driver are pending, police said.
