Hubert D. Wright, 86, of the 400 block of Sinclair St., died Dec. 4, 1995, in a Norfolk hosptial.
He was a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army. He was also retired from the Army Corps of Engineers. He was a native of Atlanta, and was the widower of Genevieve P. Wright. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church where he was involved in the Wesleyman Bible Class and served as past president and treasurer. He was also a member of the Society of American Military Engineers, Kiwanis, and a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology.
He is survived by four daughters, Catherine Wright Norris of Moscow, Russia, Yvonne Wright Floyd of Norfolk, Mary ``Beezie'' W. Shiflet of Virginia Beach, Frances E. Wright of New York; son, Hubert D. Wright Jr. of Virginia Beach; sister, Bernice Gumby of Sharpsburg, Ga.; two brothers, Jack K. Wright of Columbia, S.C., and Joseph S. Wright of Norcross, Ga.; and 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Epworth United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church.
