Olivia G. ``Sweetie'' Johnson, of the 2800 block of Myrtle Ave., died Dec. 3, 1995, in Maryview Hospital.
She was a retired beautician and public school teacher for the City of Norfolk. She was a native of Norfolk and the widow of Samuel W. Johnson Sr. Mrs. Johnson was a member of First Baptist Church, Bute St., Norfolk, where she was an active member of various church organizations including the Do All You Can Club. She was a member of the Norfolk Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta and the Norfolk Teachers Association.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Marian Venable of Detroit; two stepsons, Samuel W. Johnson Jr. of Houston and Theodore Johnson of Delaware; parents, Mary Whitehurst Gay and Freddie Gay; Mrs. Athylone Hardy Winfield of San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Belva J. Keeling of Portsmouth, Mrs. Willie P. Jackson of Portsmouth; and a host of other relaitves and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday by the Rev. Dr. Robert Murray in First Baptist Church. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery. The remains will be ready for viewing Thursday at 3 p.m. There will be an Omega, Omega Service Thursday at 7 p.m. by the Norfolk Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. The public is invited. The remains will be taken to the church at 10:30 a.m. and the family will assemble at the residence at 12:30 p.m. for the procession. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
