ROSE'S AND CIRCUIT CITY SALES REPORTED UP SLIGHTLY

Rose's Stores Inc. said November sales at stores open more than one year rose 1.6 percent from a year ago. Total sales for the five weeks ended Dec. 2 fell to $85.2 million from $89.9 million. Henderson, N.C.-based Rose's operates 105 general-merchandise stores in 10 states. Elsewhere, Circuit City Stores Inc. sales at stores open at least a year rose 1 percent for November and 3 percent for the company's third quarter. The Richmond-based retailer of consumer electronics and appliances said it expects to achieve third-quarter earnings per share in the range of analysts' expectations of 31 cents to 33 cents a share. Circuit City said total revenue for the third quarter rose 26 percent to $1.78 billion from $1.41 billion a year ago. (Bloomberg) by CNB
