Three Girl Scout units have put a Christmas tree for animals in the Chesapeake Central Library and are asking for donations that will go to the Chesapeake Animal Control Shelter.
Donations sought include dog and cat food, treats, puppy food, blankets, towels and dog sweaters. Also being sought are stuffed animals. They will be accepted until Dec. 29.
Junior Troop 941 is one of the units involved and its leader, Carol Tucker, explained that the stuffed animals are used to comfort puppies separated from their litters. She also noted that rawhide bones are not wanted because fragments can be unhealthy for the animals.
The other Girl Scout groups involved are Brownie Troop 382, led by Sandy Connolly, and Cadette Troop 850, led by Kathy Borchers. by CNB
