MARY E. NUCKOLS

Mary Elizabeth Riley Nuckols, 76, of Mallard Crescent, died Dec. 6, 1995 in Maryview Medical Center.

Mrs. Nuckols, a native of Coalton, W.Va., was the widow of Samuel G. Nuckols. She was retired from Portsmouth Naval Hospital as a registered nurse after 30 years of service. She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection.

Survivors include six children, Samuel G. Nuckols Jr. of Los Lunas, N.M., Judy Simmons of San Diego, Calif., Terry Nuckols of Portsmouth, Mary Pat Stephenson of Chesapeake, Tim Nuckols of Virginia Beach, and Veronica Adkins of Suffolk; 10 granddaughters; three grandsons; two sisters, Ruth Gutshall of Florence, S.C.; Rita McGraw of McGraws County, W.Va.; and a brother, Joe Riley of Reading, Pa. The family recently suffered the loss of her granddaughter, Elizabeth E. Nuckols, 12, of Virginia Beach.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Church of the Resurrection, 3501 Cedar Lane, by the Rev. James Carr. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at noon Saturday. Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, is handling arrangments. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Elizabeth E. Nuckols Scholarship Fund, 413 King George Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23462.
