Dr. Harvey Pilzer, 81, former resident of Portsmouth and Norfolk, died Dec. 6, 1995.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Sophye Pilzer and brother, Sydney J. Pilzer. He was a retired podiatrist and practiced in Norfolk for many years. He was a member of Rodof Sholom Temple, Falls Church; associate member of Gomley Chesed Congregation; former member of Bethel Temple, Norfolk; past president of Zionist Organization of America; president of Civitan Club; Unity Club; he was active in B'Nai Brith; also active in the Masonic Lodge; and Scottish Rite Bodies and the Shriners. He was an advocate of the Arts and an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Berman Pilzer of McLean, Va.; daughter, Brenda Pilzer of Falls Church, Va.; sister, Lois Garner Pilzer and her husband, Bernard of Virginia Beach; sister-in-law, Berniece Pilzer of Portsmouth; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in Gomley Chesed Cemetery by Rabbi Philip S. Krohn. Memorial donations may be made to the Sydney J. Pilzer Memorial Fund at Gomley Chesed Congregation or a charity of choice. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
