Sherman O. West, 68, of 47 Lamont Circle, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 1995 at Cortland Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. West was born in Summerville, Mass., on Aug. 7, 1927, the son of Oliver and Natalie Robinson West, and was a resident of the Cortland area since 1964. Prior to that, he and his family were residents of Massachusetts. Mr. West was retired from the U.S. Navy after serving for 22 years. After retirement from the service, he had been employed at Cortland BOCES and at Champion Sheet Metal, Cortland. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Cortland.
He is survived by his wife, Eilene Cunningham West of Cortland; two sons, Stuart and wife, Mary West of Virginia Beach, and Gordon and wife, Nancy West of Cortland; a daughter, Caroline West of San Francisco; a brother, Paul West of Arlington, Mass.; two grandchildren, Nathan and Alexander West of Cortland; two nieces and two nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the United Presbyterian Church, Cortland, with the Rev. Ian Johnston officiating. Friends may call today from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Avenue, Cortland.
