Cathy Louise Townsend, 39, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 1995 in Hampton.
Mrs. Townsend was a native of Ahoskie, N.C., but has been a Peninsula resident for the past seven years. Mrs. Townsend was a nursing assistant for four years with Regency Health Care Center in Grafton. She was awarded the Regency Health Care Center's Nurse of the Year award in 1992.
She is survived by her husband, John E. Townsend; a son, Sean Early of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Shannon Early of Virginia Beach; two stepsons, John E. Townsend Jr. and Paul Townsend both of Hampton; two stepdaughters, Debra Medows of Newport News and Grace Ward of Murfreesboro, N.C.; her mother, Lucy E. Lassiter of Murfreesboro; three sisters, Patricia Corzine of Virginia Beach, Andrea Conrad of Hampton and Deborah Cummins of Murfreesboro; and by a step-grandson, Brandon Townsend of Hampton.
A graveside service will be conducted in Parklawn Memorial Park in Hampton on Saturday, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. in Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home in Hampton. The family requests that memorial donations be designated to the Leukemia Society of America, the Virginia Chapter, Box 21, 2101 Executive Drive, Hampton, Va. 23666-2404.
