Vernon W. DeFord, 83, of the 2800 block of Bunch Walnuts Road, died Dec. 6, 1995, in Chesapeake.
He was a native of Norfolk County and was the widower of Eula McPherson DeFord. He was a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Hickory Ruritan Club. Mr. DeFord was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna D. Fisher of Roanoke; son, William L. DeFord of Chesapeake; sister, Lula McPherson of Chesapeake; brother, L.A. DeFord of Chesapeake; and three grandchildren, Jennifer DeFord of Chesapeake, Kimberly and Stephanie Fisher, both of Roanoke.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Michael Copeland in Good Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m and at the residence at all other times. Memorial contributions should be made to Good Hope United Methodist Church.
