Doris Creel Saunders, 81, formerly of Suffolk, died Dec. 6, 1995, in Williamsburg Community Hospital.
A native of Chapel Hill, N.C., she was the daughter of the late John R. and Inez Pendergrass Creel and the widow of Frank Austin Saunders Sr. Mrs. Saunders and her husband came to Suffolk in 1933 and established the Saunders Piano and Music Store, which they operated until his death in 1951 and she continued until 1953.
Survivors include her daughter, Evelyn Saunders of Jeffersonville, Ind.; her son, Frank A. Saunders of Foster City, Calif.; three grandchildren, Evan Keith Saunders, Kari Jennifer Saunders and Andrea Therese Saunders.
Memorial donations may be made to the Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, Va. 23434 or Obici Hospital, 1900 N. Main St., Suffolk, Va. 23434. Funeral services and burial will be private. R.W. Baker and Company Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
