ROYZELL COWART

Royzell Cowart, 69, of the 2600 block of Harvard Drive, died Dec. 4, 1995, in his home.

He was a retired postal worker for the U.S. Post Office, Norfolk. He was a native of Alexander City, Ala., and was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church, Campostella Heights, Norfolk. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, PHA-AFM (NU)147, Key West, Fla. He was a retiree of the U.S. Navy and had received the National Defense Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and a Bronze Star. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Cowart.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Cowart; five daughters, Narita G. Wright and Marilyn P. Weaver of Chesapeake, Marcia R. Cowart of Richmond, Marlene K. Cowart and Maria L.C. Studivant of Virginia Beach; two sons, Foy T. Cowart of Norfolk, and Jimmie Cowart of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Lum Martin and George Martin of Youngstown, Ohio; 25 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday by Pastor Colin Brathwaite in Seventh Day Adventist Church, Campostella Heights, Norfolk. Burial is in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The family will receive visitors at 448 Crown Crescent from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday. A family wake will be held in the Fitchett Funeral Home Sunday from 3 to 4 p.m. All floral donations are to be sent to the funeral home.
