Alonzo B. Kight, 95, of the 700 block of Providence Road, died Dec. 7, 1995, in his residence.
He was a conveyor train operator at Lambert Point Coal Pier for Norfolk and Western Railway. He was a native of Camden County, N.C., and was a member of Rock Church of Virginia Beach. He was also a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and he was a volunteer with Americans for Robertson Christian Coalition.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Lottie R. Kight; two daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Charles Welsh of Chesapeake, and Barbara and John Faircloth of Chesapeake; four grandchildren, Linda Hall, Pamela Abrams, Bryan Faircloth and Joy Faircloth; four great-grandchildren, Carl Hall Jr., Clay Hall, Grant Abrams, and Brett Abrams; and several nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Betty Forbes and the Rev. Edward Strange. Burial is in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the residence, 700 Providence Road, Chesapeake. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
