Another target of an FBI task force designed to fight violent crime in Portsmouth has been arrested after being indicted by a federal grand jury in Norfolk.
Gene Eaton Jr. of the Cavalier Manor area of Portsmouth was named in a two-count indictment charging him with armed bank robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence.
Eaton, 26, is believed to have robbed the Dominion Bank at 4047 E. Little Creek Road in Norfolk on Dec. 18, 1992.
Eaton surrendered Thursday to the FBI without incident after an intense fugitive investigation, and was transported to the United States District Court in Norfolk for an appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge.
Eaton could spend up to 25 years in prison if convicted of the crimes. The indictment followed an investigation conducted by the FBI that spanned almost three years.
