Nearly a dozen electricians picketed the construction site of a new Super Kmart center on Military Highway in Norfolk over what they said were unfair labor practices by Electric Equipment Corp., a subcontractor from Morgantown, W.Va. Bruce Woolridge, agent with Local 80 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, said the electricians were turned down for work on the project because they are union members. ``This is a right-to-work state,'' Woolridge said. ``We've got the right to work for them, too. We were willing to work for whatever terms and conditions they offered.'' Woolridge said the subcontractor on the project has hired other electricians since the union members applied for jobs.
