MILDRED P. WILLIAMS

Mildred Parke Williams, 81, formerly of Sedley, died Dec. 9, 1995, in Courtland Health Care Center.

She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Minnie Lewter Parke, and the widow of Livius N. Williams. She was a retired nurses aide, and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Sedley and Drewryville Womans Clubs and the Sedley Pace Setters Senior Citizens. Mrs. Williams was a well-known local artist, particularly painting landscapes and homes in Southampton County and Franklin. Many of her paintings were exhibited at the Walter Cecil Rawls Library and Museum in Courtland, and in banks in Franklin and Southampton County.

She is survived by a daughter, Shirley W. Thode and her husband, Chuck, of Virginia Beach; two sons, David M. Williams and his wife, Yolanda, of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Bruce P. Williams of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; two sisters, Lucille P. Vann of Conway, N.C., and Minnie P. Luke of Channelview, Texas; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Robert L. Williams.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. Jim Smith. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, and suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
