Former U.S. Sen. Harry F. Byrd Jr. felt that his loyalty should be to the people of Virginia rather than the party, and I agree.
I find it comforting to know that a statesman with U.S. Sen. John Warner's background in defense is in the U.S. Senate, keeping a watchful eye on an uncertain horizon.
