Jessie M. Moore, 73, of the 200 block of Hanson Ave., a retired boilermaker, died Dec. 8, 1995, in his residence.
Mr. Moore was born in Craven County, N.C., and retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard 18 years ago after 35 years of service. He was a member of Third Baptist Church in Portsmouth and the Andrew Brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Edna G. Moore; three daughters, Dwanda Ballard of Norfolk, Zara Z. Casey of Bowie, Md., and Crystal F. Moore of Portsmouth; two sons, Jessie C. Moore of Washington, D.C., and Leonard Carl Moore of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Addie Dawson of Long Island, N.Y., and Vivian Kilpatrick of Fort Barnwell, N.C.; a brother, Paul Moore of Dover, N.C.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one son-in-law, Olin Casey of Bowie, Md.; one daughter-in-law, Sherry Moore of Houston; and a host of friends and relatives.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Third Baptist Church by the Rev. Joseph B. Fleming. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and a wake will be from 7 to 8 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Family and friends will assemble at 267 Hanson Ave. at 10:15 a.m. for the processional.
