SPECKS, STRIPERS CONTINUE TO BEND RODS ALONG COAST

WEEKEND FISHING

Allan Drewry of Chesapeake has boated one of the largest speckled trout ever in Virginia. Unfortunately for him, it was not the biggest caught in the state this year.

Landed at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, the trout went 11 pounds, 6 ounces. However, the year's biggest Virginia speck, boated a few weeks ago, weighed 11-8. It was caught by David Trax III of Virginia Beach, also at the bridge-tunnel.

Meanwhile, striped bass continued to provide good action along the bridge-tunnel, where Wayne Couch of Virginia Beach earned a citation award from the Virginia Salt Water Fishing Tournament by releasing a 45-inch fish.
