Nathaniel J. Cross, 86, of 28067 Story Drive, a native of Nansemond County, died Dec. 9, 1995, after a long illness.
Mr. Cross was the son of Joshua and Josephine Cross. He retired from Seaboard Coastline Railroad after 40 years. He was a member of Rose Sharon Worship Center and served as former chairman of the Deacon Board.
He is survived by his wife Alberta C. Cross; two daughters, Ruth Cross Holloway of Franklin, Dorothy F. James of Waterbury, Conn.; two sisters, T.S. Knox of Landcastle, Pa., Evelyn Barnes of Baltimore, Md.; seven grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 18 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 14, 1995, at 1 p.m. in St. Matthews Holiness Church, Dr. Richard Cross Jr. presiding. Burial will be in Rose Sharon Church Cemetery. Elvin Vaughan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
