HAROLD CLOUTIER

Lt. Col. Harold J. Cloutier of Duncanville, Texas, died on Dec. 11, 1995, after a valiant, two-year battle with cancer.

Harold was born in Springfield, Mass., on March 2, 1932, to Harold A. and Mary Nix Cloutier, both of whom preceded him in death. He served his country courageously and selflessly for 22 years, including over 26 months in Vietnam, most of which was spent in combat zones. He was highly decorated for his service in Vietnam. Cloutier retired from the Army in 1978, and until a few months before his death, he owed and operated a successful floor-refinishing business in the Dallas area.

Harold's family and friends will remember him for his love of family, deep and abiding faith in God, his limitless sense of humor, and perhaps most of all, his passionate and relentless pursuit of justice. In the Army and later in civilian life, no superior was too great, no cause was too hopeless, nor was any person on whom injustice had been visited too lowly for Harold to take up any just cause with which he was confronted.

Harold is survived by his beloved and loving wife, Bozena of Duncanville; his sister, Alice Carlin of Virginia Beach; his four loved and loyal children, Andrew of Roswell, N.M., Patrick of Lewisville, Christopher of St. Paul, Minn., and Marie of Austin; his cherished daughters-in-law, Carrie-Leigh, Vonda, and Lisa; and his six adored grandchildren, all of whom will miss their exciting and funny ``Bumpa.''

Harold's friends and family will celebrate his life at a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Duncanville on Friday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Holy Redeemer Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Holy Spirit parish hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Harold Cloutier's name to Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers or Habitat for Humanity.
