A 1-year-old was critically injured Monday when he was struck on the head at a residence in the Hewitt Farms Navy housing area.
Evan James Grandelis of 1683 N. Oriole Drive was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, said Larry Hill, spokesman for the Norfolk Police Department.
Police would not indentify who hit the child or what was used to inflict the injury, which occurred just after 3 p.m.
Investigators, Hill said, are continuing to question people who were in the residence at the time.
Neighbors said the child lived at the address with his mother and an older sibling.
The child's father, they said, is on sea duty with the Navy.
