Since Virginia's employees received considerably smaller salaries than most federal employees, there was certainly justification for them to receive special consideration when it came to taxing their pensions. I can see no justification whatsoever for the same consideration being extended to federal retirees.
However, since the Supreme Court has ruled that it should, the same consideration should be extended to business retirees. Most of our retirements are substantially lower than the federal government's. It seems to me to be only fair to extend the same treatment to everyone. I can't understand the fairness in this disparity.
I will be glad to donate money to any concerted effort that will enable nongovernment retirees to receive equitable treatment.
