I take exception to Hugh J. Coffield's comments on the EPA budget (letter, Nov. 30).
I guess I'm one of those ``dumb'' voters who think the GOP is doing the right thing by cutting the EPA budget.
I speak from experience of working with the EPA on several projects and I would like for Mr. Coffield to enlighten me on what action the EPA inspections in Hampton Roads have accomplished. There are incidents of lead poisoning in the ground here in Portsmouth with very little EPA help.
The EPA is a super bureaucracy, and outside of writing very restrictive regulations, it accomplishes very little.
I do not think Mr. Coffield has realized that we are no longer under a liberal-thinking government. The Democrats got us into the fiscal mess we are in by forming several non-essential agencies.
