RICHARD R. HENDREN SR.

U.S. Navy Lt. (Ret.) Richard Robert Hendren Sr., 67, of the 5000 block of Andover Road, died Dec. 10, 1995, in Sentara Leigh Hospital.

Richard was born April 1, 1928, in Bremerton, Wash. He was a U.S. Navy lieutenant supply officer and retired in 1967 after 22 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He also was retired from Green Gifford Car Center where he worked for 10 years. He was a member of the Naval Fleet Reserve and the Retired Officers Club.

Survivors include his wife, Claudia E. Hendren; three daughters, Vicki Sue Blett, Wanda Lou Bowden and Sonya Gail Hendren, all of Virginia Beach; two sons, Larry Hendren of Chesapeake and Richard Hendren Jr. of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Wayne Hendren of Spokane, Wash.; one sister, Peggy Hudson of Oregon; four grandchildren, Chris, John, Katie and Richard; and two great-grandchildren, Sara and Taylor.

A chapel service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, by the Rev. Andrew MacBeth. The family will receive friends today in the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial donations may be made to the Diabetes Institute Foundation, P.O. Box 1980, Norfolk, Va. 23501, or the Kempsville Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 347, Virginia Beach, Va. 23462.
