Mattie Manby Smith, 78, of the 5200 block of Overland Court, died Dec. 12, 1995, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
Mrs. Smith, a native of Hopewell, Va., was a homemaker. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Virginia Beach, and member of the Crafters Guild of the church. She was also a member of the Kempsville Chapter (NU)173 Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Edward Smith; a daughter, Dr. Laura McMillian of Virginia Beach; a son, Donald Edward Smith of Brunswick, Maine; three brothers, Paul Manby and Arthur Manby, both of Virginia Beach, Walter Manby of Glen Burnie, Md.; two grandchildren, Jeffery O'Brien of Corolla, N.C., and Jodi Lawson of Portsmouth; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday in Emmanuel Episcopal Church by the Revs. Julia Dorsey-Loomis and Peter Courtney. Friends may join the family at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, for visitation Thursday between 7 and 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church Building Fund, 5181 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23462.
