Mrs. Dorcas Elizabeth Gilliam Sykes, 79, of the 1100 block of First Colonial Road, joined our Lord on Dec. 10, 1995.
She was the widow of Charles P. Sykes Sr. She was born in Elizabeth City County. She is survived by her son Charles P. Sykes Jr. and wife Martha; one sister, Mrs. William F. Jones Jr., all of Virginia Beach; a brother, Dr. Charles L. Gilliam of Newport News; and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted today at 3 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Newport News, by Dr. Charles L. Gilliam. Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Virginia Beach is handling arrangements.
