STAUNTON - Joy Gathie ``Jody'' Taylor, 68, of 111 Frontier Drive, died on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 1995, at his residence and was buried on Dec. 8, 1995.

He was born on Feb. 15, 1927 in Carter County, Tenn., son of Everette and Jane Cole Taylor.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired as fire chief of the Naval Amphibious Base, Little Creek Fire Department, Norfolk with 26 years of service.

Surviving are his widow, Dorothy A. Moore Taylor; a son, Eddie J. Taylor of Chesapeake; a daughter, Connie A. Smith of Powhatan, Va.; three stepsons, Michael Nash of Virginia Beach, and Douglas and Scott Nash, both of Richmond; a sister, Bertie Shankle of Elizabethton, Tenn.; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild and two stepgrandchildren.
