Rev. Marvin Harry Smith, 84, of the 2200 block of Cromwell Drive, died Dec. 9, 1995, in his residence.
Mr. Smith, a retired cabinet maker, was a native of Baltimore, Md. He was a member of Willowwood Presbyterian Church, Norfolk, where he was a teacher, deacon and elder. Rev. Smith was the retired pastor of Hope Chapel, Norfolk. He was a member of the Tidewater Division of Model Railroad Association and a member of the Poetry Society of Virginia. Rev. Smith was employed for many years with Pennsylvania Railroad.
Survivors include his wife, Grace E. Walton Smith; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian W. and Judith Smith of New Philadelphia, Ohio; a sister, Hilda S. Sands of Lucita, Calif.; a brother, Charles T. Smith of Delray Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Rev. Smith was preceded in death by another son, Conrad Louis Smith.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Willowwood Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Frank Drake. Memorial contributions should be made to the Willowwood Presbyterian Church or to the Sentara Hospice Service. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the memorial service, and at the residence at other times. Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, in charge of arrangements.
