MARIAH W. EVANS

Mariah W. Evans, 84, of the 5500 block of Plummer Blvd., died Dec. 12, 1995, in Maryview Medical Center.

She was a native of Norfolk County, Va. and was the widow of Amos W. Evans Sr. Mrs. Evans was a member of Garden of Prayer Temple, Portsmouth, where she was involved in the usher board and mothers board. She was also a member of Union Bethel Church of God In Christ.

She is survived by five daughters, Lorraine E. Morrison of Portsmouth, Thelma E. Winfield of Chesapeake, Rosa E. McCoy, Doris A. Wilson, both of Suffolk, Barbara E. Ramsey of Ohio; four sons, Amos W. Evans Jr. of Colorado, George A. Evans, Ronald Tines, and Raymond Wilson, all of Portsmouth; two brothers, Frank J. Williams and Jesse Williams; 30 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday by Bishop L.E. Willis in Garden of Prayer Temple, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Union Bethel C.O.G.I.C. Church cemetery. Viewing will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, and Sat. 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Family and friends will assemble at 5520 Towne Point Road in Suffolk at 12:30 p.m. for the procession to the church.
