Chesapeake Pride will celebrate its fifth anniversary Sunday with a program called ``Chesapeake Pride Presents Home for the Holiday.''
The concert at the Oscar F. Smith High School auditorium will include current and former members of Chesapeake Pride.
Former Pride members scheduled to perform include Bryant Watson (Western Branch High School), Mike Baxter (Great Bridge High School), Lori Crowe (Great Bridge), Marcie Fombell (Oscar F. Smith High School), Jeff Williams (Oscar Smith), Kevin Sawyer (Oscar Smith), D.J. Carlile (Oscar Smith) and Noel Green (Western Branch).
``We're going to have our former members perform classic Pride material with our current members,'' said Pride administrative director Malia Piper, a career guidance counselor at Oscar Smith. ``We want to show off the students who have worked with us in Pride.''
The afternoon performance also will feature the presentation of awards to those who have contributed to the Pride cause, Piper said.
Chesapeake Pride is a group of volunteer Chesapeake high school performers, who offer shows full of singing and dancing in order to promote responsible lives, avoiding drugs and alcohol.
Piper said the show will feature original Pride director Candace Wilson Lane and former member Jeff Williams as masters of ceremonies. The show will open with both current and former members singing the Pride Theme Song. The show will feature such Chesapeake Pride show-stoppers as ``Love Will Build a Bridge,'' ``Gotta Lotta Work To Do'' and ``Best Friends Share.
Even though the Pride show is only a few days away, former members may still join in by calling Piper at 436-6457. MEMO: ``Chesapeake Pride Presents Home for the Holidays'' takes place at 3
