Joyce Ann Spires, 59, of 1110 Hosier Road, died Dec. 14, 1995, in her home.
She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary Boehman Herndon.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer Spires; three daughters, Tina Nigro and Arlene Hairfield, both of Chesapeake, and Sharon Hairfield of Portsmouth; two sons, Kenny Alhona of Suffolk and Alvin M. Privott III of Portsmouth; two stepdaughters, Kim Perrott of Hickory and Gina Glover of Virginia Beach; a stepson, Skippy Spires of Virginia Beach; a sister, Mary Sawyer of Chesapeake; two brothers, Benjamin Herndon of Southport, Conn., and Jimmy Herndon of Orlando, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Weaver Futrell. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker and Company Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
