James Thomas Hinkle, 74, of the 1000 block of Gill Court died Dec. 10, 1995.
Mr. Hinkle was born in Greenville, S.C., and had resided in Virginia Beach for the past 33 years. During that time and some 10 years previously, he served fatihfully as an elder in the local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Stalwart in defending the Christian faith, Jim is perhaps best remembered for his unfailing good humor and compassion in encouraging others. Because his nature was so loving and generous, he inspired family and friends alike to love him tenderly in return. They all eagerly await the resurrection, while being nourished spiritually by many pleasant memories.
Mr. Hinkle was predeceased by a son, James Thomas Hinkle Jr. Survivors include his wife, Ruby (Johnson) Hinkle; two daughters, Barbara Bramble of Atlanta, and Beverly Baugh of Wilmington, N.C.; a brother Erv Hinkle of Atlanta; a sister Caroline Green of Charlotte, N.C.; and seven grandchildren, Buzzy Bramble of Atlanta, Todd Bramble of Clemson, S.C., Rusty McLamb of Raleigh, N.C., Barry McLamb of Wallkill, N.Y., Stephanie Hinkle and Jay Hinkle both of Charlotte, N.C., Amy Gill of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday Dec. 16, 1995 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 184 Pritchard Road Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel.
