Ruth Turner Whitlock, 87, of the 200 block of Bellhaven Road, died Dec. 13, 1995, in Colonial Home for Adults.
Mrs. Whitlock, the widow of Logan Thomas Whitlock Sr., was a retired buyer for Leggett Department Store. She worked there for 23 years. She was a native of Albany, Ga., and a member of Cradock Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of Victory Chapter (NU)16, Order of the Eastern Star; Beasley Senior Citizens Center; Western Branch Senior Citizens Center; and the XYZ Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Whitlock Ward of Windsor, Va., and Evelyn Whitlock Monds of Elizabeth City, N.C.; two sons, Logan ``Country'' Whitlock of Portsmouth and the Rev. E. Clifton Whitlock of Chesapeake; a brother, Robert C. Turner of Albany; nine grandchildren, Debbie L. Garris, Larry H. Garris Jr., Connie D. Ward, Cathy D. Ward, Carin D. Ward, Michelle Monds, Matthew T. Whitlock, Norma Jean Whitlock and Rebecca L. Whitlock; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, by the Rev. Richard Lovingood. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. An Eastern Star Service will be conducted by Victory Chapter (NU)16 today in the funeral home at 7 p.m., with the family receiving friends afterwards until 9 p.m.
