James Allen Smith, 82, of the 2200 block of N. Bugle Drive, died Dec. 15, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.
He was a native of Portsmouth. He was a retired machinist with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Shop 38. He was a member of Believers Baptist Church, Chesapeake.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth L. Smith; two sons, Robert A. Smith of Suffolk, James T. Smith of Chesapeake; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. today in Believers Baptist Church by the Rev. Scott Ranck. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Believers Baptist Church Building Fund. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
