ARTHUR J. MAC KIE JR.

Arthur James Mac Kie Jr., 70, of the 300 block of Southgate Ave., died in a local hospital on Dec. 14, 1995.

He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Mac Kie was born in Windsor, N.C., and was a retired electrician and metals inspector at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth. He was a member of Old Donation Episcopal Church in Virginia Beach. He was a World War II and Korean War veteran of the U.S. Navy and a life member of Disabled American Veterans (NU)4 in Norfolk.

Mr. Mac Kie was a volunteer for both the Davis Corner Fire and Rescue Squad and WHRO, Norfolk. He was very active with the Boy and Girl Scouts of America. He was a member of P.E.S.T. (Parking Enforcement Special Team). He was also an avid Native American crafter and a kilted member of the Tidewater Scottish Society.

Survivors include his wife, M. Fran Greene Mac Kie; three daughters, Anne M. Auld of Amelia Island, Fla., Isabel L. Dann of Chesapeake, and Jane C. Mac Kie of Virginia Beach; a son, Robert C. Mac Kie of Virginia Beach; and a brother, Thomas M. Mac Kie of South Carolina; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Old Donation Episcopal Church, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. John H. Emmert. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to the Davis Corner Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, 4672 Haygood Road, Virginia Beach, 23455. Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
