RUTH L. CARPER

Ruth Lee Carper, 71, died Dec. 14, 1995, in her residence.

Mrs. Carper, a homemaker, was the widow of Newton Robert Carper. She was a member of Eastern Shore Chapel and was a contract bridge life master. Mrs. Carper was a native of Baltimore.

She is survived by a daughter, Debra Lee Hightower of Norfolk; four sons, Newton Robert Carper II of Norfolk, Dan Richard Carper of Montana, Gary Eugene Carper of Florida, and Randall Keith Carper of Portsmouth; her mother, Glady Stakes McClenney of Virginia Beach; a sister, Dana M. Strew of Virginia Beach; and eight grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday by Dr. Stanley Sawyer in All Saints Episcopal Church, 1968 Woodside Lane, Virginia Beach. A visitation will be held Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
