Bert Wellington Holmes, of the 5900 block of Tajo Ave., died Dec. 14, 1995, in his residence.
He was retired from the Lone Star Cement Co. and was a native of Norfolk. He was a member of New Central Baptist, Norfolk, where he was involved in the usher board.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Hicks Holmes; daughter, Dr. Muriel H. Chasten of Chesapeake; son, Dr. Bert W. Holmes Jr. of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Reva Hill of New York City, and Murial Manuel of New York City; three grandchildren, Christal, Marissa, Bert III; and a host of relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m Monday by Dr. H. Edward Whitaker in New Central Baptist Church, Norfolk. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home is in charge.
